Across the Midwest, East Coast, Texas, and Arizona, ATI Physical Therapy clinics are creating accessible, patient-centered spaces that balance comfort, functionality, and operational efficiency. With more than 30 projects in development—including new builds, remodels, and shop-in-shop models—ATI’s nationwide growth is supported by a scalable, adaptable design approach that ensures each location reflects the same standard of care.

Designing for Patient-Centered Healing and Flow

Each ATI clinic is crafted around the dynamic interaction between physical therapists and their patients. The open treatment areas are designed to foster movement, engagement, and visibility. Carefully placed hospitality zones give therapists clear sightlines into the gym for charting and administrative work while remaining connected to patient activity.

Layouts balance open, semi-private, and enclosed treatment spaces, accommodating different privacy needs and treatment types. ADA compliance and mobility considerations guide every design decision—from corridor widths to equipment placement—ensuring accessibility for all patients. Select clinics also incorporate specialty therapy zones, including hydrotherapy pools and hand therapy areas, to meet targeted rehabilitation needs.

Optimizing Operations

ATI’s operational model emphasizes efficiency without compromising care. MBH’s designs reduce oversized reception areas, aligning with ATI’s online scheduling system and streamlining patient check-in. Treatment spaces are configured for therapist circuit efficiency and equipment adjacency, enabling staff to manage multiple patients seamlessly.

Flexible design elements, such as mobile treatment stations and power at each open bed, support varied therapy modalities while maintaining a consistent prototype standard that can be adapted to site-specific constraints.

Brand Consistency in Diverse Settings

ATI clinics are often located in suburban retail centers or co-tenanted environments, where visibility and consistency are essential. The design integrates ATI’s brand identity and environmental graphics into each site, creating a cohesive look and feel across the national portfolio.

Materials, finishes, and graphic elements are applied consistently while allowing for customization to fit each location’s footprint. The result is a space that feels familiar to patients, whether they are visiting in Texas, Arizona, or the East Coast.

Delivering at Scale

With a deep understanding of ATI’s design and operational priorities, MBH delivers projects on time, on budget, and in full alignment with patient care standards. Services include permit expediting, MEP coordination, and efficient project management to support ATI’s rapid expansion.

By combining scalable prototypes with site-specific solutions, each ATI clinic delivers a consistent patient-centered healing experience while meeting the practical needs of therapists and operational teams.
