Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (Avalon) We're happy whenever an arrival on the food scene aims higher than it needs to, and that's just the case with this Alpharetta ice cream shop, the fourth ATL-area outpost of the national chain. The luscious seasonal scoops and regional focus (every location offers its own unique flavors, like the Southern-inspired sweet cream, molasses and peanuts) would be enough to draw crowds, but the clean, modern and minimal look can't be beat. Built by Cali team MBH Architects, Jeni's sports a luminous design whose windows-on-all-sides approach takes full advantage of the building's placement at the center of Avalon's promenade, while loungey outdoor seating enhances its appeal as a date stop.
