Anderson Architects Joins MBH Architects

Updated: Sep 22, 2018

Leaders in award-winning architecture for retail, hospitality, housing, and mixed-use projects, California-based MBH Architects is excited to announce that New York City-based Anderson Architects is joining the MBH family. Stimulated by a shared sense of commitment to collaborative architecture and design, this move pairs distinctive yet complementary skills and disciplines.

The decision to unite under the MBH Architects umbrella was born out of a longstanding friendship between MBH principal John McNulty and Ross Anderson of Anderson Architects, who have spoken at great length about the strengths and initiatives that could be put into place through working together. With Anderson Architects’ proven architectural and interior design experience, this new endeavor will expand MBH’s areas of influence and deliver more projects with positive impacts on the built environment.

This announcement represents a turning point for MBH, which aims to continue expanding its portfolio, multidisciplinary services, and East Coast presence. With clients that include global brands like Tiffany & Co., Tesla, and West Elm, the firm has decades of experience in the retail sector, working on flagship locations and large brand rollouts. Now with a presence in New York City, MBH will be able to expand farther into the luxury and European markets with a foothold on the East Coast, providing the same high-caliber service the team has developed for clients on the West Coast for almost 30 years.

“MBH Architects possesses the solid framework, along with the project management and production skills to support the distinctive approach that Anderson and his team bring to every one of their projects,” says McNulty. “From day one, our vision for MBH was to become an architectural firm guided equally by design and technical excellence within the framework of a solid business plan.”

Anderson Architects, formed in 1996, is highly acclaimed for its customized and effective approach to hands-on, award-winning designs; bringing to the table experience with clients such as Levi Strauss & Co, Cole Haan, Bumble + bumble, Paul Smith Ltd, Fossil, Princeton University, and Abercrombie & Fitch. Folding into MBH Architects allows the New York City-based team to take on a greater number of large-scale projects. “We have found a symbiotic energy that we believe allows our group to attract a wider audience, the capability of taking on larger projects without losing sight of our unique approach to cultivating design solutions,” explains Anderson. “I truly believe that both firms’ natural and selfless inclination to collaborate and work as a team has been evident throughout the process. This prospect was far too appealing to pass up.”

The MBH office is based in Tribeca in New York City. Working together from both coasts significantly enhances MBH’s capacity to serve their clients as a stronger, more agile, and more expansive firm.
