This 100% affordable, inter-generational community was developed by MidPen Housing to address the vital need for affordable housing in California's idyllic wine country. This multi-phase project began with Fetters Apartments, which provides units for families, and is complete with Celestina Garden Apartments, which provides units specifically for seniors.
Fetters Apartments, the completed first phase of the development, provides 60 hardworking low-income families with affordable rental apartments, on-site resident services, after school program space and playground, and a community building with laundry, kitchen, and entertainment features. Fetters meets Cal Green Tier 1 requirements and is Green Point rated.
Now completed, Celestina Garden Apartments provides homes for 40 independent seniors in need of affordable rental units in Sonoma County, including those displaced by the 2017 wildfires in this region. The efficient design and thoughtful unit plans helped to minimize costs without sacrificing quality. Common areas, including community gardens and a fitness center, encourage movement and interaction among residents.
As a community, Fetters and Celestina encourage the residents and families to grow with one another, fostering a sense of camaraderie. In addition to providing much needed affordable housing, the development also includes neighborhood improvements such as bicycle and pedestrian trails, sidewalk enhancement, and a retrofitted shared-use play field for nearby Sonoma Charter School and community residents.
