Epic and Waterbar are the product of the collaborative design effort between MBH Architects, Engstrom Design Group and Pat Kuleto, who conceived the two buildings as an old world pump house and powerhouse. - Unique Features:The dining room’s interior features iron piping painted gleaming red, regulators and a giant flywheel. Situated beneath a timber roof with bolted steel plate connectors on the trusses, a reference to the machinery from the age of Iron and Steam is purveyed. Before entering the tall space of the Main Dining room, one passes under the bridge of the mezzanine above. The bridge, supported by a vierendeel steel truss, spans the width of the dining room and supports not only the mezzanine and roof, but the restaurants vast wine collection. Epic has spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay, the Bay Bridge, Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands and the Berkeley and Oakland hills.
