San Francisco Wax Museum - San Francisco, California
The San Francisco Wax Museum received an Award of Merit in the 2001 Gold Nugget Award for Best Commercial Project/Retail. The design of the Wax Museum is inspired by British and French Victorian public architecture and the arched pier buildings of the surrounding wharf area. Materials such as Jerusalem limestone were selected for its appearance and association with historic buildings, and intricate details of cast bronze guard rails and fins on twin zinc domes were instrumental in bringing nautical imagery into the architecture.
