MBH Project Director to Lecture at University Of California, Davis
ALAMEDA, CA – Izumi Masuda has been chosen as a Lecturer in the Department of Design, College of Letter and Science at the University of California, Davis. In her role there she will be instructing a Senior Level Advanced Interior Architecture Course.
Ms. Masuda works on the Special Projects Studio of MBH Architects in the capacity of Project Director. With her seven year tenure at MBH she has worked on high-profile projects such as Cahill Station and The Terraces at Willow Glen in San Jose, California; The Peninsula Mandalay in South San Francisco, California; 150 Powell (Union Square) in San Francisco, California; and Vista Montana Park in San Jose, California. She has also taken on the of mentoring new staff members of the studio by helping them increase their technical proficiencies as well as improving CAD and Graphic standards.
“The design department [at Davis] is trying to introduce ‘real world skills’ to the students and prepare them for the workplace as much as possible. They want me to share my work experience with students and use real projects as examples in the lessons, lectures and critiques,” Ms. Masuda said.
Ms. Masuda has over nine years of experience in interior architecture
and will be lecturing for the entire Fall Quarter of 2006. She was contacted
by a former professor at UC Davis and was asked to teach and share her
extensive knowledge and practical application of her architectural skills.
