Sonoma Mountain Village IllustrationALAMEDA, CA – Developer Codding Enterprises has engaged MBH Architects to perform master planning, site planning and building design for Sonoma Mountain Village, a 200 acre, master planned community in Rohnert Park, California.

Sonoma Mountain Village, unlike a traditional sprawling master planned community, will enhance a sustainable lifestyle in the tradition of a European Village with a unique California Wine Country style. This pedestrian-friendly environment of ecologically sensitive homes, vibrant gathering places and innovative businesses, all surrounded by protected open space and panoramic vistas of Sonoma Mountain perfectly balance this unparalleled oasis.

The revolutionary project is pioneering the implementation of sustainable resources, including the largest solar power installation in the region and recycled business materials used in the redevelopment process. In addition Sonoma Mountain Village is striving for Platinum LEED certification on all new buildings. Services and public transit stops at the development are located within one-half mile of residences, with shopping and community parks mere footsteps away.

Sonoma Mountain Village is located within the city limits of Rohnert Park in Sonoma County. The largest private solar system in the State of California was turned on, on Tuesday, October 24, at 10 am at Sonoma Mountain Village on the former Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Campus in Rohnert Park.
This massive 90,000 square foot solar panel installation, provided by Powerlight, will generate an impressive 1.14 Megawatts and power the majority of the Sonoma Mountain Business Center, which includes four large office buildings that are being renovated for reuse in this state-of-the-art New Urbanism community. The energy from the system is enough to completely power 750 homes during peak periods and enough to power 400 homes year-round.
