MBH Selected By Hilton Corporation For 46-Story Tower On Las Vegas Strip
NEWPORT
BEACH, CA – Phase II of Hilton Grand Vacations Club, Las Vegas is complete
and MBH Architects has been awarded design and construction administration
services for Phase III.
Phase III will consist of a 46-story tower that will adjoin to the two existing towers and lobby. The tower will include two stories of public areas that have 42,000 square feet in addition to 44 stories of units that have 722 keys. The public areas at the second floor include a 12,000 square foot restaurant and kitchen facilities. The total site area of Phase III is 652,433 square feet. The overall height of the tower is 473'-3". The construction of Phase III is scheduled for March 2008 and the target opening date is October 2009.
Phase II consists of a 38-story high rise tower that connects to the existing lobby building. This portion adds 427, one-bedroom to three-bedroom, timeshare units and includes eight floors of upgraded penthouse suites.
Public facilities for Phase II include a 4,500 square foot spa with six treatment rooms and manicure and pedicure stations. The steam rooms for the spa received special design attention and include a steam urn alcoved into the wall with special lighting, a nine-inch pan shower head within the steam room, and double-decker benches with upgraded tiles. The spa opens onto a private garden and will overlook a pool deck.
It also includes meeting rooms opening to an exterior roof deck, and a deli expansion including a Starbucks style coffee and cappuccino center and pizza center. The lobby was expanded with new seating areas, a check in desk, and electronic check in kiosks similar to the ones located at airport ticket counters. There is also approximately 15,000 square feet of new sales center space including a small theater. Phase II was open for guest on July 4, 2006.
The exterior of both phases picks up the themes of the original design, but add a layer of articulation at the eight stories of penthouse floors through the use of metal panels, special spandrel glazing systems and decorative architectural lighting elements.
At completion the four phase project will include 2,706 keys in over 2,000,000 square feet. The layout for the10 acre parcel carefully locates the four high-rise towers, ranging from 26 to 46 stories, in a pinwheel pattern around a grand central lobby space. While compact and efficient in design, this arrangement creates the opportunity for the landmark atrium lobby with clerestory windows, soaring articulated ceilings and a grand staircase. The innovative space planning and site design maximize the residential space on a minimal property.
