MBH Band ‘The 4-Inch Studs’ Named Finalist In Fortune Magazine’s ‘Battle Of The Corporate Bands’ . . . Off To The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame


The 4-Inch Studs rocking their way to victory at the Kay Club during the Battle of the Corporate BandsThe Key Club, West Hollywood, CA – On August 5th the MBH band, the 4-Inch Studs, rocked their way to victory in the regional qualifier in the Sixth Annual “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands”. The Studs played a six song set including Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin, Fool for the City by Foghat, and rounded out their allotted 20 minutes (not wasting a second) with an extended version of AC/DC’s Highway to Hell. They will now go on to compete with nine other bands selected to perform at the finals in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum the weekend of October 6-7, 2006.

The “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” is a partnership with NAMM, the International Music Products Association, FORTUNE magazine and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s Educational Programs. This annual event celebrates the positive effects that music has on productivity and morale in the business world and raises funds for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s music education programs.

As in previous years, bands that entered the “Battle” submitted a three-song CD. From these, 18 bands were chosen to participate in one of three qualifying regional “Battles” that took place in New York, NY at the Knitting Factory, Nashville, TN at the Gibson Custom Shop, and Los Angeles, California at The Key Club.

The 4-Inch Studs, made up of, John McNulty, David Delasantos, Bruce Clement, Rick Nelson and Joe Selby (Novartis) were one of 40 entrants in this national competition. The event continues to grow in popularity each year. In 2000, the first year of the Battle of the Corporate Bands, ten bands entered the competition.

In addition, FORTUNE has partnered with Chrysler Aspen SUV to create the Chrysler Fans’ Choice Awards. For the first year ever, rock and roll fans will get to participate in the Battle of the Corporate Bands and make their voices heard. Beginning on August 21st fans will be able to listen online to a song from each of the final nine bands and vote for who they think deserves the Chrysler Fans’ Choice Award, to be announced after the competition on October 7th. The rising interest in the “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” reflects the role that music plays in the lives of baby boomers and older gen-xers. According to a recent Wall Street Journal Article (8/01/06), nearly one quarter of all people who play a musical instrument are between the ages of 35 and 60, and the number of music makers in this age group is growing. The U.S. Census estimates there are approximately 112 million people in this demographic.
