MBH Band ‘The 4-Inch Studs’ Named Regional Finalist In Fortune Magazine’s
‘Battle Of The Corporate Bands’
Alameda, CA - The Sixth Annual “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” has announced the 18 bands selected to perform at the three regional qualifying “playoffs”. MBH Architects band, the 4” Studs, has qualified to compete in the regional competition taking place in Los Angeles on August 5, 2006.
The Studs, made up of, John McNulty (Rhythm Guitar), David Delasantos (Vocals & Guitar), Bruce Clement (Lead Guitar), Rick Nelson (Drums) and Joe Selby, Chiron Corporation (Bass Guitar) was one of 40 entrants in this national competition. The event continues to grow in popularity each year. In 2000, the first year of the Battle of the Corporate Bands, ten bands entered the competition.
As in previous years, bands that entered the “Battle” submitted a three-song CD. From these, 18 bands were chosen to participate in one of three qualifying regional “Battles” that will take place in New York, NY at the Knitting Factory on July 22, Nashville, TN at the Gibson Custom Shop on July 29, and Los Angeles, California at The Key Club on August 5. Finalists will be selected from these performances, with the final “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” taking place the weekend of October 6-7, 2006 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.
The “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” is a partnership with NAMM, the International Music Products Association, FORTUNE magazine and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s Educational Programs. This annual event celebrates the positive effects that music has on productivity and morale in the business world and raises funds for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s music education programs. The rising interest in the “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” reflects the role that music plays in the lives of baby boomers and older gen-xers. According to Gallup, nearly one quarter of all people who play a musical instrument are between the ages of 35 and 60, and the number of music makers in this age group is growing. The U.S. Census estimates there are approximately 112 million people in this demographic. The “FORTUNE Battle of The Corporate Bands” encourages friendly competition among a vast variety of companies that support their employees, recognizing that music helps develop teamwork, discipline, creativity, passion, harmony and commitment – all skills that are valued in business. Compelling scientific findings link active music making to measurable improvements in health and wellness. In addition, music making helps reduce stress and anxiety.
