MBH Wins Award of Merit in the Builder’s Choice Design & Planning Awards 2005
Contextual
design earns a high honor as University Park, Woodmark Collection is
awarded an Award of Merit at the 25th Annual Builder’s Choice
Design and Planning Awards this month.
“David Delasantos, Project Architect didn’t
have to look far for the design cues when MBH took on this 36-unit,
high-end project. It’s set in a mature residential neighborhood
near downtown Palo Alto that is filled with tip-top examples of California’s
Craftsman architecture. The varied roof lines, warm wood shingles, intricate
wood detailing, abundant decks and friendly porches give his modern-day
project a definite Arts and Crafts flavor.”
– Builder Magazine, October 2005
The theme of this year’s competition reflected great restraint when it came to design issues. As the nation grows more congested the burden falls on design professionals to consider context and clutter when taking on a new project. Builder’s Choice recognizes these projects as incorporating these issues with inspired design that includes interesting solutions for less interesting aspects such as parking, curb cuts, and utility boxes.
