P.F. Chang's China Bistro in Long Beach, California Receives a Nomination in the 2004 Gold Nugget Awards Best in the West Program
Another P.F. Chang’s China Bistro has been nominated in a design
awards competition. The Long Beach restaurant has received an Award
of Merit in the Specialty Project Category for the 2004 Gold Nugget
Awards program. The project is now eligible for the category’s
Grand Award to be announced in mid June.
For several years, MBH Architects has been designing in full collaboration with its client, P.F. Chang’s, several award winning projects concentrated in the Western United States. This Long Beach restaurant features a sixty foot long self supporting wood lamella roof that is a dynamic focal point and recreates a building form rarely utilized.
The Gold Nugget Specialty Project Category is used for hotels, resorts, restaurants and other building types that are neither commercial nor residential. The other two finalists in this category are a church and a parking/retail facility.
The Grand Awards and Awards of Merit will be presented at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California on June 17, 2004.
